Conversation Circle: Talking About Race – Bias

June 18 @ 7:15 pm - 8:15 pm

Now is a time in which we need education and open conversation. This is how we will learn and this is how we will do better as a nation.

Join us for as many of our Conversation Circle Series on Talking about Race as you can. This series will run for 7 months and will cover a different topic each month. The resources are all provided through the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History & Culture.

It is important that we each do our own work. But it is also important that we come together to discuss and delve deeper with others that are doing the same work. You are encouraged to join for as many of the discussions as possible.

Please plan to read and view the videos prior to the conversation circle so that you can participate fully and get the most out of the conversation.

These events are free and open to any mother that would like to join the conversation.

During the month of June we will discuss Bias.

All resources for the month of June can be found at: https://nmaahc.si.edu/learn/talking-about-race/topics/bias

*This event is based on each individual pursuing personal education and then engaging in open conversation. The discussions will be facilitated by HER Health Collective co-founders, Cindi Michaelson and Crissy Fishbane.

Both Cindi and Crissy are engaging in this 7-month long conversation series in an effort to pursue their own education and engage in discussion alongside fellow moms. They both draw on experience in this area, Cindi as a former facilitator of Racial Justice Roundtables at the YWCA and Crissy as a former high school social studies teacher with a master’s degree in teaching. Neither claim to be experts on racial equality, inclusion, or social diversity, rather they aim to create a safe space for mothers to explore, learn, and grow in their understanding of this topic together.
