This is for the Mother: A Creative Writing Workshop on Motherhood w/ local poet and maternal mental health advocate, Briget Bell
August 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
All cultures tell stories and for good reason. Stories help us process our emotions, build empathy, and connect with our community. In this workshop, led by poet and maternal mental health advocate Bridget Bell, we will use storytelling–specifically narrative poetry–to explore the complexities of motherhood that often don’t get voiced: grief, resentment, identity shifts, and loneliness while also honoring maternal joy, empowerment, and community.
Here’s what we’ll share together:
Facilitator-selected poems centered on motherhood, identity, and resilience
Guided discussion about themes that emerge from the readings
Reflective writing and journaling prompts designed for all experience levels
Opportunities to explore personal stories, memories, and experiences through writing
Optional sharing of writing in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment
A chance to reconnect with your voice beyond daily responsibilities and caregiving roles
An opportunity to purchase All That We Ask of You Is to Always Be Happy, Bridget’s poetry collection about maternal mental health.
