Bio/Description

I am a doctoral-prepared, board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 17 years of advanced practice experience and over three decades in nursing and healthcare. My clinical background spans primary care, urgent care, and women’s health, with my work now focused on the health and healthcare needs of women during midlife.

I am the founder and owner of Peri & Pause, The Menopause Center, a rapidly growing North Carolina practice dedicated to evidence-based and evidence-informed care throughout the perimenopause and menopause transition. I am also a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) and have made improving the quality, accessibility, and accuracy of midlife women’s healthcare the focus of this stage of my career.

My decision to specialize in this area grew directly from my years in primary care. I repeatedly saw women experiencing significant changes in their physical, cognitive, sexual, and emotional health during midlife without receiving adequate education, evaluation, or treatment. At the same time, patients and clinicians alike were navigating an extraordinary amount of conflicting information about menopause and hormone therapy. I founded Peri & Pause to help close that gap.

Today, my work extends beyond direct clinical care. I am an educator, speaker, podcast host, practice owner, and advocate for improving healthcare policy and access. I have a particular interest in translating complex and sometimes controversial areas of women's health into information that is clinically sound, understandable, and useful to both healthcare professionals and the public. I also bring the perspective of a clinician who has built and scaled an independent healthcare practice and understands the clinical, operational, regulatory, and workforce challenges involved in delivering care outside of a traditional health system.

Areas in which I particularly enjoy contributing expertise include perimenopause and menopause, menopausal hormone therapy, midlife women's health, sexual and genitourinary health, healthcare misinformation, nurse practitioner practice and regulation, independent healthcare practice, clinical entrepreneurship, healthcare access, and the intersection of healthcare policy and clinical practice.

At the center of all of this work is a simple goal: women in midlife deserve healthcare grounded in current evidence, thoughtful clinical decision-making, and an understanding of the whole person—not dismissal of symptoms as an inevitable part of getting older. Improving that care has the potential not only to change women's lives, but also to positively affect their families, workplaces, and communities.
