The Expert
Megan Smucker Raymond
Megan Smucker Raymond has over a decade of experience in community-based social work and psychotherapy. After her own struggle with prenatal depression, she was inspired to pursue a certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C). Interest in the identity re-formation, conflict, and grief that occurs during the transition from “self” to “parent” and "partner" to "team" grew as her own support system waned during postpartum. Megan completed Levels 1-2 of the Gottman Institute Methods of Couples Therapy, and their Bringing Baby Home training. As she became more acutely aware of the overlap between intimacy and parenting, Megan pursued training as a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (CSTIP) and expanded on couples and sex therapies. She considers herself to be a lifelong learner and is currently in training to be EMDRIA certified.
Megan is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the states of New York and New Jersey. In addition to this practice, she is a wellness counselor and crisis intervention specialist for city agencies, member of PSI's NY Chapter, sci-fi nerd, avid reader and book club extraordinaire, and single mom of two little humans.
